Bittu Bahanebaaz

Bittu Bahanebaaz, is the chronicles of a smart and quick-witted 10-year-old Bittu who always finds funny excuses to get out of trouble. No matter the situation, he comes up with a clever escape – fast, funny, and full of surprises!

Bittu

Bittu is not your ordinary boy. He is a dreamer, an artist of ‘bahanas’ and a clever navigator of the world’s little rules. While others see obstacles, he sees possibilities. While others follow the paths laid before them, he bends them gently. He’s the sort of boy who could talk his way out of a crocodile’s jaws and wriggle free from the clutches of homework. With a twinkle in his eye and a mind that wanders beyond the ordinary, Bittu creates his own universe - one where imagination reigns supreme!

Ginni

Ginni is Bittu’s first cousin (Chacha’s son), of the same age, in the same class, and lives nearby. Bittu often confides his excuses to Ginni, making him one of the few people Bittu is mostly honest with. Ginni is often a witness to Bittu’s antics, and his amused reactions add to the humour. He is deeply impressed by Bittu’s knack for wriggling out of situations and aspires to be like him, though he rarely succeeds. Ironically, when Bittu’s excuses fail, Ginni is also the first to mock and laugh at him. Their camaraderie reflects a very real-life bond. Ginni is known for his natural clumsiness—frequently wobbling, tripping, or falling into slapstick situations—earning him the nickname ‘girtam padtam Ginni’.

Harish

Harish is Bittu’s father. A lawyer by profession, he hasn’t found much success—mainly because he simply can’t lie. The exact opposite of Bittu, Harish is a symbol of honesty and a strict disciplinarian who has zero tolerance for dishonesty. He’s the one person Bittu genuinely fears when it comes to making excuses. Bittu knows that if caught, his father’s disappointment won’t be easy to handle. Komal often jokes behind his back, saying, “Ek Raja Harishchandra the, aur ek yeh Harish… dono sachchai ki murti.”

Komal

Komal is Bittu’s mother, a caring housewife who always puts her family first. Since she spends the most time with Bittu, she often ends up hearing his many excuses. She’s usually aware when he’s making an excuse and often asks, “Bittu, tum bahane toh nahi bana rahe ho na?” While Bittu’s excuses work on her sometimes, Komal doesn’t always fall for them. She is very particular about cleanliness. She likes everything neat and tidy. Bittu often uses this to his advantage, distracting her to get out of situations.

Rinku

Rinku is Bittu’s elder sister. She is very particular about her belongings and values her personal space. She’s well aware of Bittu’s bahanebaazi, but usually doesn’t interfere—unless his excuses affect her directly. When they do, she does not spare Bittu. Rinku’s trump card is her father. At home, she’s referred to as papa ki pari, and she proudly owns the title. Harish has a soft spot for his daughter and dotes on her, which Rinku often uses to her advantage—especially when dealing with Bittu.
